Helldivers 2 future updates will be postponed in favor of performance improvements

The release of some Helldivers 2 content and feature updates has been postponed for later so the title’s developer can focus on performance improvement as the first priority, according to the Game Director, Mikael Eriksson.

In a new video published on the game’s official YouTube channel, Eriksson admitted that the last big update, Into the Unjust, caused multiple issues in Helldivers 2, he also said that the feedback they received from the community was very justified.

“We’re taking this very seriously, and we are focusing way more now on addressing these issues to make sure this sort of thing doesn’t happen again. We have made the decision to push some of our content and feature updates a little bit into the future while we’re addressing these things to make sure that we can get to a much more stable state that we can believe in. We are already making really big improvements, and I’m confident that we will get there and we will be able to talk in more detail about this, hopefully quite soon,” stated Eriksson.

Earlier this month, the game’s developing studio, Arrowhead, explained Helldivers 2’s massive size of 150 GB on PC and outlined plans to fix the situation.

Published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and playable on Xbox Series X|SPlayStation 5 and Windows PC, Helldivers 2 is set in the 22nd century and follows the story of shock troops called Helldivers, dispatched to combat various threats to humanity, protect Super Earth and spread managed democracy.

As of the time of writing, the game has a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam, with 775,701 reviews and an all-time peak of 458,709 players, according to SteamDB.
