Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider join GOG Preservation Program
Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration and Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition have joined the GOG Preservation Program.
Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration is the special edition of the eleventh main entry in the Tomb Raider series, 2015’s Rise of the Tomb Raider, which was released on October 11, 2016. It includes the Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch and Cold Darkness Awakened story expansions, a classic outfit inspired by Tomb Raider III, cooperative gameplay for endurance mode; a combat-free mode, Blood Ties, in which Lara explores Croft Manor; and Lara’s Nightmare mode, in which players fight infected enemies in the manor.
Released on November 4, 2018, Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is a version bundling together all DLC episodes and the main game, which is the sequel to Rise of the Tomb Raider and the twelfth mainline entry in the Tomb Raider series.
Set three years after the events of Rise of the Tomb Raider, its story follows Lara Croft as she ventures through the tropical regions of the Americas to the legendary city Paititi, battling the paramilitary organization Trinity and racing to stop a Mayan apocalypse she has unleashed.
Since its launch in November 2023, The GOG Preservation Program aims to save old titles that are no longer supported by their developers, adjusting them for compatibility with current operating systems and hardware.
As of the time of writing, in accordance with the Preservation Program’s web page, its catalog includes 196 titles, which have undergone 1,006 improvements.
