Frostpunk 2 Launches on Consoles, Brings Some Chill to Xbox Game Pass
Frostpunk 2 launched on consoles and joined Microsoft Gaming’s subscription service, Xbox Game Pass, on Sept. 18, 2025.
Developed and published by 11 Bit Studios, the city-building survival video game became available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Cloud for members of Game Pass Ultimate.
Set 30 years after the events of the original 2018 game, Frostpunk 2 tasks players with taking on the role of a leader in an alternate-history early 20th century to build and manage a city during a catastrophic, worldwide volcanic winter that almost completely destroyed human civilization, while making morally and politically controversial choices to ensure its survival.
Besides the Xbox platform, Frostpunk 2 is also playable on macOS, Windows PCs and PlayStation 5.
Initially released on Sept. 20, 2024, the game had sold 592,000 copies worldwide by Dec. 31, 2024, and generated about $18.48 million.
As of the time of writing, Frostpunk 2 has a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam with 17,473 reviews and an all-time peak of 35,533 concurrent players, according to SteamDB.
