On Oct. 10, 2025, Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy IX are launching in physical on Dec. 9, 2025. Final Fantasy VII and VIII are going to be a twin pack, while Final Fantasy IX will be standalone.

Fans can now pre-order the games on the official Square Enix site for $39.99 for Final Fantasy VII and VIII twin pack. Final Fantasy IX can also be pre-ordered for the same price as the twin pack.

While the games mentioned have been available in physical cartridges in certain regions like Asia and Europe, this is the first time the Final Fantasy classics will be available in North America on the Nintendo Switch.

The three Final Fantasy titles were initially released on the Nintendo Switch in 2019. They are the remastered and updated versions of the original PlayStation 1 games, complete with features that make the games less tedious for recent audiences.

Regarding other Final Fantasy games coming to the Nintendo Switch, Final Fantasy VII Remake is also set to be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. This version of the game also includes Final Fantasy VII Remake Intermission.
