The game’s global release was on Oct. 10, 2025, during which over 500,000 players were waiting to access the game’s servers. Battlefield 6 is currently the #1 top seller on Steam. During the game’s release, EA published patch 1.1.0, adding a wide range of updates and improvements to the game. The changes added increase the penalty for repeated jumps, slightly lowered the jump height, and more. During day one, some players have had issues with installing the game, encountering a notice stating they need to purchase DLC. This is an unintended bug that EA claims it is working to fix.
During Battlefield 6’s monumental release, Activision made Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 free-to-play for a week. The first-person shooters have been direct competitors within the gaming industry for some time, with EA holding the rights to Battlefield and Activision owning Call of Duty. 62% of Battlefield 6’s wishlist on Steam were reportedly from gamers who also play Call of Duty.
