Microsoft Gaming continues to work on next-generation consoles, confirms Xbox president

President of Xbox, Sara Bond, confirmed that the company is still working on the creation of the next generation of consoles.

Following the recent release of the ROG Xbox Ally in partnership with Xbox, which sparked rumors about whether Xbox was stepping away from in-house next-gen consoles, Bond confirmed in talks with Variety that the Xbox team is still working on its next-gen consoles, the direct follow-ups to the Xbox Series X|S, one of the ninth-generation consoles alongside the PlayStation 5 and the Nintendo Switch 2.

“We are 100% looking at making things in the future,” Bond said. “We have our next-gen hardware in development. We’ve been looking at prototyping, designing.”

The next-gen Xbox is being developed in partnership with AMD, as was previously announced, and according to Bond, there’s even the possibility of internally made handhelds.

Bond highlighted that the launch of the ROG Xbox Ally aligns with the company’s effort to provide players with a broader choice of gaming devices.
